ASSESSMENT OF THE RISK OF DEPRESSION

Depression Sensor

The depression Sensor provides information about the risk of developing depression and which preventive measures can help.

Depression is widespread

Depression is one of the most common mental illnesses. It is estimated that about seven percent of all adults suffer from depression and its associated symptoms

Among other things, those affected have problems with eating, sleeping, and maintaining social contacts. Depression can last for years and lead to a massive reduction in quality of life.

Causes of depression

A combination of different factors facilitates the development of depression. For example, severe strokes of fate or pregnancy can play a role in the development of psychological problems.

Apart from that, however, specific genes also have a considerable influence on how high the individual’s risk of developing depression is. Therefore, a genetic test that examines the gene variations that are relevant in this context can be useful and help to counteract this risk at an early stage.

How our Depression Sensor works

For our Depression Sensor, our laboratory performs a comprehensive analysis of the sample sent to us. Eight genetic variations that play a role in depression are investigated.

We use the results to determine how likely a patient is to develop depression and whether antidepressant treatment is promising.

After a successful analysis, we prepare a detailed written report. In this report, we clearly explain how the individual risks are assessed and which preventive measures make sense.

In this way, our Depression Sensor can help to recognize the danger of depression early on and to counter the psychological problems with the right measures effectively.

The Depression Sensor at a glance:

  • Analysis of 8 relevant genetic variations
  • Determination of the individual risk for depression
  • Investigation of the tolerability of 59 common drugs
  • Reliable test procedure in our laboratory
  • Written evaluation of the test results
  • Personalized recommendations for action based on the results

After a successful analysis, we summarize the individual results in a detailed result report – similar to the one shown in this demo.
