The greatest strength of pellet technology is its flexibility: because many small pellets are freely mixed together, micronutrients can be combined individually — right down to a personalized daily ration. On request with delayed release and enteric coatings, filled into capsules, sachets or sticks.
Discuss pellet technology →Pellets are tiny, round active-ingredient carriers, usually under a millimeter in size. Unlike a single large tablet, a pellet product consists of many small units that are filled together into a capsule, sachet or stick. This pellet technology originally comes from pharmaceuticals and is regarded as a particularly advanced form of galenics.
Building a product from many individual pellets brings decisive advantages: the active ingredients are distributed evenly, can be finely controlled and — most importantly — freely combined with one another. While a conventional tablet has a fixed composition, a pellet product is a flexible building-block system from which new variants can be assembled again and again.
Micro-pellets are the smallest form and are excellently suited as a basis for even release. Multilayer pellets go a step further: they consist of several layers that let you deliberately separate active ingredients or release them on a controlled timeline.
For example, a sensitive active ingredient can be protected on the inside, while an outer layer handles a delayed release. Which structure is right depends on your product — we advise you individually on this.
Another advantage: if two active ingredients are used that don't get along well, they can be placed in separate pellets instead of being mixed in a single tablet. That way each component stays stable until it's needed in the body — a formulation freedom that conventional dosage forms don't offer.
Perhaps the greatest advantage of pellets is the potential for personalization. Because different pellet types can be freely mixed, micronutrients can be combined individually — right down to a daily ration tailored to a target group or even to individual people.
For brands with a personalized concept, this is ideal: from one kit of pellets, many variants can be created flexibly, without having to run a completely new batch for each formulation. This is exactly what makes pellet technology the first choice when a test or consultation result needs to become a concrete, individual product — quickly, economically and in consistent quality.
Pellets combine excellently with further galenics. With a suitable coating you achieve a delayed release (slow-release), so active ingredients are released evenly over hours. With an enteric coating, you carry acid-sensitive active ingredients safely into the small intestine.
This turns the pellet base into a high-quality premium product that clearly sets itself apart from simple standard capsules.
Finished pellets can be packaged in various ways. The most common is filling into capsules. For drinks and on-the-go use, sachets or sticks are well suited, with pellets that can be taken directly or added to liquid. The packaging therefore helps decide how your product feels in your customers' daily lives.
Which dosage form best suits your product and target audience is something we work out together — the pellets remain the same high-quality base throughout. On request, we also handle all the branding around the packaging, so the pellets become a ready-to-market branded product.
A major advantage of pellet technology is that personalized blends can be produced economically from small quantities. Instead of huge minimum order quantities, you can start with a small batch and only scale up to large-scale production once demand is there.
Because the pellets already exist as a base, your individual blend is often produced within just a few days — a clear speed advantage at market entry. You can respond flexibly to demand, test new variants and expand your range step by step, without tying yourself to a single large batch.
