Bowel cancer is one of the most common types of cancer

Colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers in the western industrial nations. It is estimated that about six percent of the population is affected during their lifetime, although men are at slightly higher risk than women.

Although a lot has happened in recent years concerning therapy options, in Germany alone, around 27,000 people still die of colorectal cancer every year. Therefore, early diagnosis and treatment are of great importance for a favorable prognosis.

Causes of colorectal cancer

The probability of developing bowel cancer increases sharply with age. Also, unhealthy lifestyle habits, such as excessive consumption of sausage and red meat, contribute significantly to an increase in the risk of bowel cancer.

Apart from this, genes also have a significant influence on the development of colorectal cancer. Therefore, genetic analysis can help assess individual risk factors and, if necessary, one can take timely preventive measures.

How the Colon Health Sensor works

As part of our Colon Health Sensor, our laboratory performs a comprehensive analysis of the sample sent in. We examine a total of 17 gene variations associated with the risk of colorectal cancer.

This allows us to assess the likelihood of a patient developing colorectal cancer and whether special precautions are recommended.

After a successful analysis, in which the individual risk of colorectal cancer Genetic based on the gene profile and the effect of 32 relevant drugs, we prepare a precise evaluation with all results.

Thus, our Colon Health Sensor can make a valuable contribution to effective colorectal cancer screening and help to reduce the patient’s individual risk significantly.
