The Thrombo Sensor provides information on whether defects in relevant genes lead to an increased risk of thrombosis.

Individual recommendations for prevention
Thromboses pose a significant threat
Thrombosis is a disease that leads to the formation of blood clots. These can clog vessels and block the blood supply to the affected areas. This can cause permanent damage and, in the worst case, can even be life-threatening.
Depending on where the thrombosis occurs, it can have different consequences. For example, if the blood supply to the brain is blocked, the thrombosis causes a stroke, while an interrupted blood supply to the heart triggers a heart attack.
Genetic defects can increase the risk of thrombosis
In principle, anyone can develop thrombosis, although the risk is particularly high in women during pregnancy and childbirth.
Irrespective of this, certain genetic defects can further increase the risk of developing thrombosis. Given the considerable risks that thrombosis can pose, it is, therefore, advisable to have an analysis of the relevant genes carried out.
How our Thrombo Sensor works
For our Thrombo Sensor, we analyze the sent sample in our laboratory. We examine those genetic variations that are associated with an increased risk of thrombosis. In addition, we determine whether certain drugs can cause problems due to the genetic profile and should, therefore, be avoided.
In this way, we can determine how high the patient’s risk for venous or arterial thrombosis is and whether special preventive measures should be taken.
After successful analysis, we prepare a detailed report in which we clearly present all the results and make individual recommendations for prevention as well as for any necessary exclusion of potentially intolerable drugs.
Thus, our Thrombo Sensor can make an important contribution to the prevention of thrombosis and help to counteract existing risks at an early stage.
